Toy Parti Poodle: The Queen's Guard, Huxtable

Huxtable, the Queen's Guard Dog

Friends always ask me to send them pics of my dog because they get a kick out of, "how fly and cool he is", lol.  I sent a few pics to one friend the other night and he said Huxtable looked like one of the Queen's Guards... and yanno what? He sure does, lol.... only thing he's missing is the red coat.

Huxtable the Poodle, Posing & Sleeping

Photobucket Hux had a mini impromptu photoshoot the other day... I was bored, he looked handsome lounging around, and the camera was nearby so I snapped a few pics of my little boo, lol... more pics to come...

Photobucket  Here's him sleeping later, after mommy's not so good attempt at banding his topknot  :/ (more info and pics of that later too, lol)

Parti Poodles: Modern or Lamb Clip

Photobucket Beautiful black parti poodles in either a lamb or modern clip / cut.  Miniature poodles.

I can't wait to have several parti poodles too!

Standard Brown and White Parti Poodle & Friend

I love love love a good photo of a parti poodle-- toy, miniature, or standard. When I randomly stumble upon them I try my best to save them to my desktop. Below is one of the photos I stumbled upon, I wish I could remember where I found it, but I do know the name of the lovely poodle on the left is Dodger. He's a  brown and white standard parti poodle... and of course his black (or silver or blue) poodle friend is cute too :)

I love his curly chocolate top knot, and I love the amber eyes, and the parti colored nails (remind's me of Huxtable's), and of course those lips... I swear poodles are the most human like of all dogs.

Huxtable and one of his favorite toys, Mr. Rabbit. I like to get him very classic type dog toys (matches my decor plus he's a boy). Many of his stuffed ones are by American Classics. He tore open the mallard, but the rabbit, fox, and pheasant are holding up pretty well. You can check out more of the American Classic dog toys, here.

Much of his girth is just fur, seemingly 5 lbs of it, lol.

Parti Poodle in Cuts and Clips: Lamb, European Puppy, English Saddle

This southern sun is starting to beam down pretty hard. So, as a good poodle parent I know I have to start thinking about summer cuts for my toy poodle pup.

A low puppy clip is the cut that first comes to mind, and I know if I want to show him it is usually the required cut for puppies 12 months and under. That said, I really wanted to try something different and more poodle-like so after some brainstorming and searching I narrowed it down to a few:

- European puppy clip
- Miami Cut
- Continental
- English Saddle

After showing pics to some of the family, everyone slightly preferred the Miami, since it would take off the most hair all over, but still give him a poodle look. I used the following photos for inspiration...

Scandinavian Puppy Clip (aka European Puppy Cut)

Continental Cut (2 more photos of continental below)

And of course I had to find some parti poodle cut inspiration. Luckily I stumbled upon K9Style and her standard parti poodle, Tripp. She's cut him into different poodle clips-- European puppy clip, English Saddle, etc. He's not a toy so I couldn't tell how Huxtable would end up looking exactly, but it gave me an idea of how different clips would look on the traditional coloring and pattern of a parti poodle.

I initially thought this was a shorter lamb cut (parti poodle), but after getting a similar cut for Huxtable I can much more clearly see that this is a model / town & country clip-- cut all the way down in the middle, with hair left on the arms and legs.  I just believe they are harder to notice on parti poodles

European / Scandinavian Puppy Clip (parti poodle).

English Saddle Cut (parti poodle).

Isn't the front cut to perfection? I would have loved to see his top knot out in front. Also, Tripp doesn't have his tail docked that's why the back isn't in a ball.

After much deliberation and back and forth I decided to go with a "modified continental". I'll explain more in the next post.

Baby Huxie, gone prep.

Toy poodle wearing clothing

A preppy dog needs his matching preppy threads, right? Well, here's Huxtable in some staple prep gear-- button-up and madras pants. And of course his collar has to be popped ;)

Huxtable is infamous for only showing one eye, lol.
